A few weeks back, my Kuya and I were watching Pop Talk on GMA News TV and they happen to feature a Japanese carinderia in Hermosa St., Tondo. Upon watching it, my brother wanted to try it.
So a week after, together with my mom, Enzo, Ate Ize and her mom, we decided to dine it at Hapon Suzuki
At first glance, you might have hesitations in eating here. Space is limited. Seats are limited. Moves are limited. Everything is limited. It was more of a bangketa rather than a carinderia.
But what I like about Suzuki is that you can see how your food is prepared. The kitchen is out in hte. So you can be sure that your food is sanitary.
Meet Chef Suzuki. He's a retired chef in Japan and married a Filipina until they decided to just settle here in the Philippines.
Our patience was tested during our visit since we have to wait for 2 long hours just to eat! YES. TWO FUCKING HOURS.
FINALLY, after the 2-hour wait, it's here! Sorry for the poor image quality. We just brought an iTouch with us.
I ordered beef teriyaki and I must say, it's pretty impressive. I love the marriage of the the sweet and salty taste of the beef.
I wasn't really a fan of their fish fillet. But my mom and sister-in-law said that it was really good. Maybe because I am really not a fish eater. It's crispy, golden brown appearance is very enticing. Plus the sauce is a to-die for.
I have to say that this has become my favorite! Shrimp tempura with vegetables on the side. It was crunchy and delicious. The tempura sauce added to the almost perfectly cooked dish. Good job chef!
My kuya's order was Chiken katsudon. AND I INSTANTLY FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. It was the best chicken katsudon I've tasted in my life! Well, it's really my first time to eat chicken katsudon so I don't have any idea how it should taste like. Hehe. ;p
It is a good value for your money. I mean, where in the world can you eat in a Japanese restaurant this cheap and delicious?
The two-hour wait is worth it but it's not ideal if you want to satisfy your hungry tummy.
The food was great but it's a one time thing. Never again, will I wait for two hours just to eat here, even if it's worth it. HAHA.
But if you're up for a little adventure, it is is located at Hermosa St. Tondo Manila. And just a tip, if you don't want to wait for a very long time, I suggest that you call their hotline (which I don't know by the way) and place your orders through phone as early as lunch time and just dine in during dinner. :))
wanna try that! bring us there! evidently, it's worth the loooooong wait.
ReplyDeleteHi, I am confused with the street name Hermosa? is there a definite landmark that I can see in order for me to get there? thanks
